White Tulips

We all make mistakes sometimes, we forget a friend’s birthday, we say the wrong thing, or make a bonehead move. It happens to us all at time. If  you’re like me, you want to do everything you can to make up for whatever your mistake was, and I have found that one of the best ways to say “I’m sorry.” is with flowers. Flowers show you put extra thought into your apology and I’ve found it is an excellent way to smooth things over. Below are the flowers I most recommend when sending an apology- you might not think it matters what type of flowers you send, but trust me, it does!

White tulips- Tulips are very happy flowers that are associated with spring and new beginnings. The white variety are particularly good for apologies as they are said to represent forgiveness. Aside from meanings, I have found that tulips are elegant and classy flowers and that they are almost universally adored. A bouquet of these with a sincere card are a great means of apologizing.

Blue hyacinths- Hyacinths are said to represent sincerity and the blue shade means truth. These are lovely flowers that make stunning and unique bouquets. When apologizing, it’s usually best to show a lot of thought was put into the flower choice so choosing something unexpected, like hyacinths, is a solid move.

White Orchids- An orchid is a truly exotic and beautiful flower and if you get the planted variety, can last months in the right conditions. The white color will display your sincerity while the long-lasting nature will remind them of your apology for as long as the flower last.

White and yellow gladiolus- Gladiolus are beautiful and elegant flowers that represent strength of character. These are the only flowers I recommend using with two colors because the white and yellow varieties are stunning when used together. Attach a heartfelt apology to these and forgiveness will not be far behind.

You may have noticed I didn’t include roses on this list. My whole life, I have heard that you should always give yellow roses as an apology. I’m not sure where that came from. And yes, roses are beautiful and I’m sure make for a good apology, but because they are so popular, some people think that very little effort of thought goes into choosing them. That’s why I recommend going with an unexpected flower, it usually shows a little more thoughtfulness. Any other good ideas for apology flowers??
